Mission oriented Research & Innovation

With the Mission-driven Research and Innovation in Sport and Exercise program (MOOI in Beweging), research and innovation processes will increasingly contribute better to societal challenges (prevention and healthy behaviour). Six so-called wicked problems have been identified for this mission:

  • Citizens in disadvantaged neighbourhoods exercise less

  • Children and young people move less and their motor skills deteriorate

  • Sport and exercise are not used enough in healthcare

  • The value of top sport is insufficiently demonstrable

  • The sports infrastructure is underused

  • The affordability of sports is under pressure

For this project, INNOFIUS contributed to many faciltating tasks, the initial set up of the mission framework, the online multi-stakeholder kick off, advising on the complexity of wicked problems and finance schemes for (inter)national funding for the wicked problems.
